Statement of the Diocese of Ossory on bell ringing on Saint Patrick’s Day

16 Mar 2020

Many of the dioceses of Ireland will ring church bells tomorrow at 11am to mark the Feast of St Patrick.  The bells of the Churches of Ossory will join in this as a reminder of the role of our faith which has sustained us throughout the centuries.

This initiative, begun by Bishop Phonsie Cullinan of Waterford and Lismore is an expression of social solidarity, an encouragement to care for one other and for all of us to be inspired and remain hopeful at this difficult time.

In asking parishes to take part Bishop Dermot recognised the importance of faith and hope to us always and most especially in difficult moments.
