Bishop Dermot Farrell announces the death of Bishop Laurence Forristal RIP

Please see the below statement from Bishop Dermot Farrell, Bishop of Ossory:

“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Bishop Laurence Forristal, Bishop Emeritus of Ossory, who died peacefully in Saint Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, this morning. 

“May his soul rest in peace.”

Bishop Forristal was born in 1931 and was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Ossory in 1955.  The late bishop was appointed as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Dublin in 1980 and was subsequently installed as Bishop of Ossory in 1981, where he served until 2007.  Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
