At a special event in Clonliffe College, on Monday 12th November 2012, the Archbishop of Dublin, Diarmuid Martin, presented a new bilingual publication, An tAIFREANN NAOFA. The booklet and CD cover an Irish/English version of the new text of the Mass along with a choice of Eucharistic Prayers for various Masses, including Children’s Masses.  Irish and English text is provided side by side.

The publication is the work of an Coiste Tréadach, whose aim is to support and provide pastoral care to the Irish speaking community in the Archdiocese. An Coiste Tréadach also helps in the pastoral care of Catholic Gaelscoileanna (Irish language primary and post primary schools) and occasionally organises other events and ceremonies.  The main aim of the new Mass booklet and CD is to help priests who wish to become more proficient in Irish, to read Mass in the various churches in which Mass is celebrated in Irish.

Guest speaker at the launch of the booklet and CD was Senator Rónán Mullen and the music was provided by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

Archbishop Martin said, “I very much welcome the publication of An tAifreann Naofa – such a high quality Irish language resource for priests, not only the bilingual script, but the accompanying CD.  I am sure it will be warmly received by many priests in Dublin who continue to minister daily and weekly not only to the Irish speaking community but to Gaelscoileanna and Gaelcholáistí.  I hope that these valuable resources will be made widely available to priests throughout all of Ireland. I wish to thank and congratulate An Coiste Tréadach on the invaluable work and service they have given over the past number of years.”

Ag ócáid speisialta i gColáiste na Croise Naofa, Cluain Life, Dé Luain, 12 Samhain 2012(7:30pm)sheol Ard-Easpag Bhaile Átha Cliath, Diarmuid Máirtín, leabhrán agus dlúthdhiosca dátheangach, AN tAIFREANN NAOFA ina bhfuil téacs athbhreithnithe an Aifrinn, mar aon le rogha de Phaidreacha Eocairisteacha d’Aifrinn éagsúla, Aifrinn do Pháistí san áireamh.  Tá an téacs leagtha amach i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla taobh le taobh.

Saothar é seo de chuid Choiste Tréadach na hArd-Deoise a bhfuil sé mar aidhm aige tacaíocht a thabhairt do agus freastal tréadach a dhéanamh ar Phobal na Gaeilge in Ard-Deoise Átha Cliath, idir sholáthar na nAifreann, seirbhís a chur ar fáil do Ghaelscoileanna Caitliceacha sa cheantar agus ócáidí/searmanais chuí eile a eagrú.  Samhlaítear go mbeidh an leabhrán agus dlúthdhiosca dátheangach seo ina áis úsáideach phraiticiúil do shagairt ar mian leo feabhas a chur ar a gcuid Gaeilge, ar mhaithe leis an Aifreann a cheiliúradh i nGaeilge.

Bhí an Seanadóir Rónán Mullen mar aoi-chainteoir ag an seoladh agus Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann a bhí i mbun an cheoil.

Duirt an tArd-Easpag Máirtín, “Duir Failtím go mór roimh an foilseachán nua seo “An tAifreann Naofa” atá ar ard-chaigdeán, idir dhearadh agus chló.  Beidh sé ina uirlis fíor-luachmhar do shagairt na hÉireann, ní hamháin de bharr an leagain dátheangaigh, ach an CD atá ag gabháil leis an leabhrán. Tá dearadh álainn agus leagan amach an-soiléir ag gabháil leis agus táim cinnte go gcuirfear fáilte roimhe, ag na sagairt ar fad in mBaile Átha Cliath, a dhéanann freastal rialta ar Phobal Dé le Gaeilge agus ar Ghaelscoileanna agus Gaelcholáistí.  Tá súil agam go gcuirfear an áis luachmhar seo ar fáil do shagairt ar fud na hÉireann.  Ba mhaith liom an deis seo a ghlacadh freisin le buíochas a ghlacadh agus comhghairdeas a dhéanamh leis An Coiste Tréadach as an sárobair atá á dhéanamh acu in Ard-Deoise Átha Cliath le blianta anuas”
