Media arrangements for the Requiem Mass for the late Cardinal Cahal B Daly,
Archbishop Emeritus of Armagh

The Requiem Mass for the late Cardinal Cahal B Daly will take place on Tuesday, 5 January, 2010 at 12.00 noon in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, followed by burial in the Cathedral grounds.

The following arrangements have been put in place by the Archdiocese of Armagh for media representatives wishing to cover the Requiem Mass of Cardinal Daly:

Television cameras and radio:

RTÉ, BBC, UTV and TV3 cameras will record the Requiem Mass for news broadcasts inside the Cathedral and by the graveside.  The Mass will be broadcast live by RTÉ Radio 1 longwave 252 and also on RTÉ extra the digital/online platform.  BBC Radio Ulster will also broadcast the Mass live on 1341 MW from 11.55am

Picture journalists:

A pooling arrangement is in place due to pressure of space and in order to facilitate demand from other print and/or online media.  The following picture journalists have permission to attend inside the Cathedral during the Mass and by the graveside: The Irish News, Irish Independent, The Irish Times, Mr Liam McArdle (freelance 0044 7900107362) and the Press Association of Ireland.  Pictures may be requested from the Press Association by contacting PA chief photographer for Ireland Mr Paul Faith on 00447801975539, the PA London picture desk on 00442079637155 or [email protected].

Accreditation for newspaper journalists:

Due to pressure of space a small number of seats are available for newspaper journalists inside the Cathedral.  Please contact Martin Long, Catholic Communications Office, to confirm availability.

Media Centre:

A dedicated room for media will be available from 10.00am on Tuesday 5 January in Saint Patrick’s Grammar School, Armagh, which is adjacent to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.  Refreshments will be served.

Parking:

A number of car parks will be available around Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh. Stewards will direct traffic in the vicinity of the Cathedral.
