Bishop McAreavey announces diocesan changes for the Diocese of Dromore

Bishop John McAreavey, Bishop of Dromore, has announced the following diocesan changes, these changes will take effect on Saturday 29 August 2009.  Except where indicated otherwise, these changes will take effect from this date:
  • Dean Anthony Davies retires as PP, Clonduff;
  • Archdeacon Liam Boyle retires as PP, Gargory and will be priest-in-residence in Gargory;
  • Jarlath Cushenan, PP, Donaghmore to be PP, Clonduff;
  • Charles Byrne, PP, Burren and Adm., Mayobridge to be PP, Burren & PP, Mayobridge;
  • Canon Francis Brown, President, St Colman’s College, Newry, to be Adm., Donaghmore until 1 January 2010, when he will become Adm., Newry;
  • Peter Charles McNeill, CC, Warrenpoint to be Administrator, Upper and Lower Drumgooland (Leitrim & Gargory) and Dromara;
  • Terence Rafferty, Adm., Newry to be P.P., Donaghmore on 1 January 2010;
  • Tom McAteer, CC Mayobridge to be CC, Mayobridge and CC, Burren;
  • John Byrne, C.C., St Peter’s, Lurgan to be C.C., Newry;
  • Brendan Kearns CC, Newry, to be CC, Clonallon.
On announcing the changes, Bishop McAreavey said: “I wish all the priests concerned well, both those retiring and those taking up new responsibilities.”
