Change of Date for the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-elect Séamus Freeman

At 3.00pm on Sunday, 2nd December 2007, the First Sunday of Advent, the Episcopal Ordination of Monsignor Séamus Freeman, Bishop-elect of Ossory, will take place in St Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny.

At this Ordination Mass, the Principal Consecrator will be Most Reverend Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop of Dublin, and the co-consecrators will be His Excellency Most Reverend Giuseppe Lazzarotto, Apostolic Nuncio, and Most Reverend Laurence Forristal, former Bishop of Ossory.

This change of date is to allow members of the Irish Catholic Hierarchy attend the Consistory in Rome on Saturday, 24th November 2007 at which Most Reverend Seán Brady, Archbishop of Armagh, Primate of All Ireland and President of the Irish Bishops’ Conference will be created a Cardinal.
