WELCOMES THE APPOINTMENT OF MGR DENIS BRENNAN AS BISHOP OF FERNS

The Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, Dr Seán Brady, today
welcomed the appointment of Monsignor Denis Brennan as Bishop of the
Diocese of Ferns.

Archbishop Brady said: “I am delighted to hear the news that Pope Benedict XVI
has appointed Mgr Denis Brennan, Parish Priest of Taghmon, Co. Wexford, to
become Bishop of Ferns. I congratulate Mgr Brennan and offer him my best
wishes. I think that he is very well prepared to take on the pastoral care
of the diocese, founded by St Aidan, and that he will have the support of
the laity, religious and clergy. I welcome Mgr Brennan into the ranks of
the Irish Bishops and look forward to working with him.”
