Communications Changes Announced

It was announced today that Mr Mark Mortell has been appointed Chairman of a new Advisory Board for the Catholic Communications Office, an Agency of the Irish Bishops’ Conference. The Advisory Board will assist the Episcopal Commission on Communications in consolidating and developing the work of the Catholic Communications Office in Maynooth. Further members of the Advisory Board will be appointed shortly.

Mr Mortell is a Director of Fleishman-Hillard Saunders, International Communications Consultants, a former Chairman of Bord Failte and previously Commercial Director of Aer Lingus. He has extensive experience in corporate communications and marketing having worked with a range of Irish businesses. A graduate of Dublin City University, he is married with two daughters.

The present Director of the Catholic Communications Office and Principal Spokesperson for the Bishops’ Conference, Fr Martin Clarke, will complete his six-year secondment to the Conference in September when he will return to work with the Archdiocese of Dublin as Diocesan Communications Director.

A new Director for the Catholic Communications Office will be appointed after an open-market recruitment process which will commence immediately.
