‘FEASTS AND SEASONS’

NEW COLLECTION OF LITURGICAL MUSIC FROM ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE, MAYNOOTH

“Feasts and Seasons – Music for the Church Year” is the title of a new collection of liturgical
music from St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, which will be launched today, Monday 17th February
2003 by Dr John Magee, Bishop of Cloyne.

“Feasts and Seasons” was edited by John O’Keeffe, Director of Sacred Music at St Patrick’s
College, Maynooth. John is well known to church musicians throughout the country as an organist
(formerly Westminster Cathedral, St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Dublin and St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford),
choral director and more recently as a composer.

Commenting on the collection, he says: “‘Feasts and Seasons’ brings together a selection of 17
compositions which have gradually become associated with particular times of the liturgical year
here at the seminary in Maynooth . Over the years many visitors to the college have requested
copies of this music and we are delighted to be able to publish them together in one collection.
‘Feasts and Seasons’ should serve as a useful resource for parish choirs, congregations and cantors
throughout the country.”

The collection features the compositions of Ronan Mc Donagh, John Mc Cann, Maire Ni Dhuibhir, Liam
Lawton and the editor himself.

The music on the CD and cassette is delivered by young men from all parts of the country who are
currently training for the priesthood at Maynooth.

“Feasts and Seasons” is available in CD, cassette and book format and is priced – €18, €12
and €15 respectively. For further information contact: Development Office, St Patrick’s College,
