Information note to media on the Funeral Mass for the late Martin McGuinness RIP

At 2.00pm tomorrow the Funeral Mass for the late Martin McGuinness RIP will be celebrated in Saint Columba’s Church in the parish of Long Tower in Derry City.  Father Michael Canny will be the chief celebrant and will preach the homily at the Mass.  Bishop Donal McKeown, Bishop of Derry, will preside at the Mass.  The remains of Mr McGuinness will be interred in the City Cemetery, Derry, after the Mass.

Father Canny asks that media queries be directed to the Catholic Communications Office in Maynooth.  During the Funeral Mass the BBC will provide a live feed from within the church which is available on site or via Belfast media hub on 028 90 338444.  A reserved and elevated area for media cameras will be available adjacent to the church grounds.  Also adjacent to the church, the assembly hall of Long Tower Primary School will be available for use by journalists as a media centre.  Wi-Fi and refreshments will be available at the centre.

Tomorrow in the early afternoon details of the funeral liturgy will be circulated to media by the Catholic Communications Office.
