PRESS RELEASE

Statement by Cardinal Seán Brady, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, on the death of Fr Michael Melvin SVD

It was with great sadness and regret that I heard of the untimely death last night in St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin, of Fr Michael Melvin SVD (61), Director of Kairos Communications in Maynooth, the television production and media training company which the late Fr Melvin founded in 1972.

The high standard in the area of religious broadcasting set by Fr Melvin is his undoubted legacy to all of us. I extend my sympathies to his brothers Fr Jarlath (Provincial of the Divine Word Missionaries in Paraguay), Gerard, Eugene and Aidan, other family members, colleagues and wide circle of friends.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
