Catholic Communications Office joins the World Wide Web

25 May 2001

The website of the Catholic Communications Office will go live on World Communications Day 2001 (Sunday 27 May). The site will be launched officially at the June meeting of the Irish Bishops’ Conference in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, but is available on the World Wide Web from Sunday at www.catholiccommunications.ie.

The Pope’s theme for World Communications Day 2001 is “PREACH FROM THE HOUSETOPS – THE GOSPEL IN THE AGE OF GLOBAL COMMUNICATION” .

In his message the Pope says: “In today’s world, housetops are almost always marked by a forest of antennae sending and receiving messages from the four corners of the earth. It is vitally important that among these many messages the word of God is heard. To proclaim the faith from the housetops today, means to speak Jesus’ word in and through the dynamic world of communications”.
