Photocall for blessing of engaged couples at Saint Mary’s Grotto, Chapel Lane, Belfast

Ahead of the Feast of Saint Valentine you, or a representative, are invited to a
photocall for the blessing of engaged couples by Bishop Michael Router, at Saint Mary’s Grotto, Chapel Lane in Belfast city centre.  Details: 

Time and date   Tomorrow, Tuesday 13 February, engaged couples will attend the celebration of Mass at 1:00pm, and thereafter a photocall at the grotto at 1.30pm.

Venue   Saint Mary’s Grotto, Chapel Lane, Belfast, in the Diocese of Down and Connor.
 
In attendance   Bishop Michael Router, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Armagh and board member of Accord Northern Ireland, will lead the blessing; Father Timothy Bartlett, Parish Priest of Saint Mary’s; Deirdre O’Rawe, Regional Director of Accord NI; as well as engaged couples:

  • Megan Neeson and Ben McFetridge, from Belfast;
  • Josefa Lasota and Nolan Devlin, from Lisburn, and,
  • Andrea Tohill and Hugh Corr, from Lisburn.

Launch of new Accord marriage preparation programme, and 2023 figures 
Also at the annual blessing of engaged couples and their rings, Accord NI, the Catholic marriage care service, will announce its figures for participation on marriage preparation courses in 2023, and will officially launch its revised and updated Marriage Preparation Programme, the programme’s first major revision in twenty years.  The review was commissioned by the Irish Bishops’ Conference as a legacy of the World Meeting of Families that took place in Ireland in 2018, and which was attended by Pope Francis.
