Pope Francis appoints Bishop Denis Nulty as Apostolic Administrator of Ossory

The Most Reverend Denis Nulty, while maintaining his pastoral ministry as the Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin, now becomes, in addition, the Apostolic Administrator of Ossory

With the canonical possession of the Episcopal See of Dublin on 2nd February 2021 by the Most Reverend Dermot Farrell, the See of Ossory becomes vacant (Can. 418 §1).

The Holy Father Pope Francis has decided to appoint the Most Reverend Denis Nulty as Apostolic Administrator of Ossory (Can. 419 §; see also: Directory for the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops, n. 244).

This new pastoral duty assigned to Bishop Denis Nulty takes effect from Tuesday 2nd February 2021, and will be in addition to his office as Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin.
