22 Mar 2016

A special Holy Week and Easter feature is now available on www.catholicbishops.ie. The feature includes details on:

  • Pope Francis’ schedule for Holy Week and Easter
  • An explanation of the ceremonies and services for Holy Week and the Easter Triduum
  • Details of the RTÉ broadcast of services for Holy Week in Ireland and from Rome
  • An overview of some of the events taking place in dioceses during Holy Week
  • Details of Dawn Masses for Easter Sunday

The feature will be updated to include homilies and other texts from bishops from Chrism Masses to the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday Services as they become available.

A new video resource of the ‘Way of the Cross’ using the Stations of the Cross from Saint Mel’s Cathedral, Longford, will also be available on the feature on Good Friday. The video will include reflections by Ken Thompson who designed and sculpted the Stations of the Cross, and prayers by Bishop Colm O’Reilly, Bishop Emeritus of Ardagh and Clonmacnois.
