Bishop Martin Drennan, Bishop of Galway, has warmly welcomed the appointment by the Holy Father Pope Francis on 22 November of Bishop Kieran O’Reilly as the new Archbishop of Cashel and Emly.  Speaking in Galway Bishop Drennan spoke of Bishop O’Reilly’s deep faith, his diligence, his innate kindness, his insight and generosity as a pastor.

Bishop Drennan, who is the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Kilfenora which lies in the province of Cashel, acknowledged with gratitude the very significant contribution made to the Church in Ireland by Archbishop Dermot Clifford over fifty years as a priest and bishop, and wished him every grace and blessing on his retirement.
