Cardinal Brady welcomes Pope Francis’ encyclical Lumen Fidei

Cardinal Seán Brady welcomed the publication of Pope Francis’ first Encyclical Lumen Fidei which was published today in the Vatican.

Cardinal Brady said, “I warmly welcome the publication of the Encyclical Letter Lumen Fidei by the Holy Father Pope Francis.  This letter complements the Encyclical Letters Spe Salvi and Deus Caritas Est of Pope Benedict XVI.  Lumen Fidei reminds us that faith is not a condition to be taken for granted, but rather a gift from God, to be nurtured and reinforced.

“During this Year of Faith, Lumen Fidei leads us deeper into the adventure of knowing Jesus Christ “the image of the unseen God” (Col 1:15).  I encourage all people of faith to read Lumen Fidei which is now available on the Vatican website vatican.va.”
