Easter message from Bishop William Crean, Bishop of Cloyne

My dear friends in Christ,

The ceremonies which begin today, Holy Thursday, and which continue until our Easter Vigil on Saturday night celebrate the very core of our Christian faith, the passion, death and Resurrection of Christ.  They are the ultimate sign of God’s love for each one of us, a love shown in service to humanity.

They also show us that ultimately evil cannot and does not triumph, but is overcome by love, and that death is not the final word for any of us.

I know that many young people, parents and families are facing difficult challenges in their lives at present, and at times may be tempted to despair and to lose hope.  I pray that these Easter celebrations will give new hope to us all, and allow us – both as individuals and as a society – to move forward together with renewed hearts toward a better future for all.

As we begin the celebrations of the Easter Triduum, I wish you all a very happy and blessed Easter.
