Archbishop Diarmuid Martin

Born 8 April 1945; ordained priest 25 May 1969; Episcopal ordination 6 January 1999; elevated to dignity of Archbishop and Apostolic Nuncio March 2001; appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Dublin 3 May 2003; succeeded as Archbishop of Dublin 26 April 2004. On 29 December 2020, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Martin by Decree as Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Dublin with all the rights, faculties and duties of a diocesan bishop following the appointment of Bishop Dermot Farrell as Archbishop-elect of Dublin.

Episcopal responsibilities

Vice-President of the Bishops’ Conference, Member of Standing Committee, Member of Episcopal Commission for Social Issues and International Affairs, Member of the Council for Religious and the Joint Council for Religious of the Irish Episcopal Conference and CORI, Chairman of Council for European Affairs; and Member of the Council for Marriage and the Family.
