Bishop Crean deeply saddened at the death of Father Joe McGuane

Bishop William Crean has expressed his deep sadness at the death of Father Joe McGuane following an accident yesterday evening. “I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Father McGuane’s death,” he stated. “Father McGuane served the people of the diocese of Cloyne for over 40 years, as curate, parish priest, and then as chaplain to St Raphael’s Centre, Youghal. I extend my sympathy to his family, his friends, and to the priests of the diocese. I also offer my condolences to the McGuane family on the death of Father Joe’s sister, Maura McGuane. It is truly poignant that Maura was called to God on the same day as Father Joe, who cared for her so diligently for many years. May they rest in peace.”
