Cardinal Brady signs book of condolences for brothers Martin,
Tony jnr and James McDonagh

Cardinal Seán Brady today signed the book of condolences which has been opened for the three brothers Martin, Tony jnr and James McDonagh who lost their lives in Monday’s tragic house fire in Drogheda.  The signing of the book of condolences took place in the borough council offices on Fair Street, Drogheda.
Cardinal Brady said, “I offer my support and prayers to the McDonagh family at this most difficult time.  Parents Kathleen and Anthony, and son Eddie, have experienced a devastation and loss that goes beyond words.  My heart goes out to them.  The suffering that they are experiencing is beyond our comprehension.
“I am asking the people of the Archdiocese of Armagh to remember in their prayers Kathleen, Anthony and Eddie and also to pray for the repose of the souls of their beloved Martin, Tony jnr and James.  Today I also ask the priests and people of the diocese to pray at all Masses this weekend for the McDonagh family.”
Cardinal Brady concluded, “The bravery of both the emergency services and the neighbours of the McDonagh family demonstrates the spirit of the people of Drogheda.  I pray that the McDonagh family, their friends and the local community can find the strength to bear this awful tragedy.”
