Statement by the Archbishop of Dublin and Primate of Ireland, Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, on the appointment of Fr Séamus Freeman SCA as Bishop-elect of the Diocese of Ossory

The Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Diarmuid Martin has welcomed the appointment of the new Bishop of Ossory, Father Séamus Freeman and has assured him of prayers for his new ministry.

“I have known Father Freeman for many years,” said Archbishop Martin, “He is an exceptionally warm and kind man who I’m sure will quickly win the affection of the diocese. His genuine humility hides a deep spirituality and the breath of his pastoral experience. Fr Freeman has roots in the Diocese of Ossory but has unique experience in positions of international responsibility within the Pallotine Order, in direct parish ministry and in preaching retreats.”
