Irish Bishop to Attend Special Mass for the Irish Community in New York on Sunday 30 September 2001

The Most Reverend Willie Walsh, Bishop of Killaloe will represent the Irish Bishops at a special Mass for the Irish community in Holy Trinity Church in New York City on Sunday 30, September 2001 at 2.30pm (local time). The Mass has been jointly organised by the Consulate General of Ireland in New York and Holy Trinity Parish.

Bishop Gordon Mc Mullan, Retired Church of Ireland Bishop of Down and Dromore is also travelling to New York for the event.

Mr Brian Cowen, Minister for Foreign Affairs will attend the Mass, with representatives from Irish community organisations in New York.

Also attending will be Mr Richard Ryan, Ireland’s Ambassador to the United Nations and His Excellency Mr Eugene Hutchinson, Consul General of Ireland in New York.

Irish Tenor, Ronan Tynan and Mary Deady of Siamsa will be providing some of the music, as well as the contemporary choir from Holy Trinity Parish.
