Statement of Apostolic Nunciature inIrelandon arrival of new Papal Nuncio

Most Reverend Giuseppe Lazzarotto, the new Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, will arrive at Dublin Airport on an Aer Lingus flight direct from Rome at 8:25 pm this evening.

He will be received thre by representatives of the Nunciature, of the Irish Episcopal Conference, of theArchdiocese of Dublin and of the Government.

His Holiness Pope John Paul II appointed His Excellency as Nuncio to Ireland on 11 November 2000.

Since 23 July 1994 Archbishop Lazzarotto has been Apostolic Nuncio both in the Hashermite Kingdom of Jordan and in the Republic Of Iraq. He left Iraq for Amman, Jordan, on December 20 last, where he remained until departing for Rome on January 6.

On January 12 he was received in audience by the Holy Father.During the days he spent in Rome, he met with the Cardinal Secretary of State and the Holy Father’s collaborators in the various organisms of the Holy See.
