St.Peter's Parish, Little Bray, are having “Prayer around the Cross” on Good Friday at 8 .00 p.m. in the Parish Hall, reflective music, prayers and readings. Parish of the Assumption Booterstown, “Ecumenical Prayer around the Cross” will take place on Good Friday 21st March at 7.30 pm. The service will be followed by a cup of tea in the parish centre. An Ecumenical Sonrise Celebration will take place at 6.00am on Easter Sunday morning on Sandymount Strand (in front of the old swimming baths). DIOCESE OF GALWAY A celebration of the entire diocese will mark the beginning of the most significant days in the Catholic Church's calendar when Most Reverend Martin Drennan, Bishop of Galway will preside at the Holy Week Ceremonies in the Cathedral. MASS OF CHRISM - Holy Thursday 20th March 2008 A particular liturgical highlight is the celebration of the Holy Thursday Mass of Chrism at 11am in the Cathedral which the Bishop, with the priests of the whole diocese concelebrating Mass, performs the Ceremony of the blessing of the Oils which will be used in the administration of the Sacraments throughout the year. Every parish sends representatives to this liturgy and the special theme of the priesthood is further emphasised by the presence in a privileged position of the parents of priests whom the Bishop has personally invited to the Ceremony.
