Broadcast of Religious Ceremonies/Programmes



 
The newly restored St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Armagh is the beautiful venue for 
the RTE coverage of the Holy Week ceremonies this year. Details are as follows:

Holy Thursday - 13th April 2006 RTE 2 7.00pm
Mass of the Lord's Supper

Good Friday - 14th April 2006 RTE 1 3.00pm

Holy Saturday - 15th April 2006 RTE 1 10.55pm
The Easter Vigil 
The Paschal Fire at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, announces the coming of 
Easter and the Risen Christ.
Chief Celebrant: Most Rev. Seán Brady, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of 
All Ireland. 

Easter Sunday - 16th April 2006 RTE 1 10.00am
Mass for Easter from St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh 
Chief Celebrant: Very Rev Padraig Murphy Adm.

FRANCO ZEFFIRELLI'S FILM JESUS OF NAZARETH
After the Celebration of the Passion on Good Friday RTE are running 
Part 1 of Franco Zeffirelli’s film JESUS OF NAZARETH on RTE1 at 4.00pm. 
Part 2 will be transmitted on Holy Saturday at 4.00pm.
Part 3 on Easter Sunday at 3.30pm and 
Part 4 on Easter Monday at 3.55pm (all on RTE1).

On Easter Sunday, a Church of Ireland Service of Holy Communion for Easter will 
be transmitted at 0915 on RTE1, followed by the Mass from Armagh Cathedral at 10.00am, 
and then the Urbi et Orbi Easter Greetings and Blessing by Pope Benedict XVl 
– his first Easter as Pope.
