Launch of new Lenten Resource February 2010
Images from the launch events held in Sligo and Roscommon for the publication of a new Lenten Resource.  Nine Irish dioceses - Achonry, Ardagh & Clonmacnois, Armagh, Clonfert, Elphin, Kerry, Killala, Limerick and Tuam - have come together and produced a Lenten Scripture Sharing Group resource booklet entitled Turning Our Hearts to The Lord.
Launch of Catholic Schools Week 28 January 2010

Images from the launch by Cardinal Seán Brady of Catholic Schools Week 2010 and the inauguration of the Catholic Schools Partnership (CSP), which took place on 28 January in the Emmaus Centre, Swords, Co Dublin.

The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2010 is Catholic Schools – a light for every generation. It runs from Sunday 31 January to Saturday 6 February 2010.

Funeral Mass and Burial of Cardinal Cahal B Daly, Archbishop Emeritus of Armagh and former Primate of All Ireland. The Chief Celebrant at the Mass was the successor of Cardinal Daly, Cardinal Sean Brady. Cardinal Daly is laid to rest in the grounds of the Cathedral along side his predecessors Cardinal Ó Fiaich, Cardinal Conway and Cardinal Dalton. Photos by Liam McArdle.

Bishop Michael Smith pastoral visit to Burma 8-19 November 2009
Images from the pastoral visit of Bishop Michael Smith, Bishop of Meath, to Burma. Among the projects supported by the Diocese of Meath, Trócaire and the Society of Saint Columban are youth leadership, vocational training programmes and boarding houses for student education.  Bishop Smith also visited the first HIV hospice centre in Northern Burma run by Irish Columban Sister Mary Dillon from Co Clare.
Launch of the Cry of the Earth pastoral reflection 10 November 2009

Images from the launch of The Cry of the Earth, a pastoral reflection on climate change from the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference.  Archbishop Dermot Clifford, Archbishop of Cashel and Emly, launched the publication on 10 November 2009 in St Francis of Assisi Primary School in Belmayne, Dublin, beside Father Collins Park, the first wholly sustainable park in Ireland.

Images from the meeting  between Four Church Leaders and PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott which took place on 2 November 2009 in Cardinal Brady’s home in Armagh.  The Church leaders were Cardinal Seán Brady, Archbishop Alan Harper, Reverend Donald Ker and Reverend Dr Stafford Carson and areas covered at the meeting included the importance of developing community policing, the current security situation and anti-social behaviour in our society.
