Media Diary Notice: Minister for Education & Skills Richard Bruton to address CPSMA conference

  • Photocall opportunity with award winning pupils

You, or a representative, are invited to a photocall for the presentation of awards to the winners of the Catholic Primary Schools Management Association’s art competition by Minister for Education & Skills, Mr Richard Bruton TD.  See names and locations of winners, and category awards, below.  Following the award ceremony Minister Bruton will be the opening speaker for the 2017 CPSMA annual conference, the theme of which is “Celebrating Local Schools”.

Time and date            2.00pm on Friday 3 March 2017.

Venue                         Radisson Blu Hotel, Dublin Airport.

In attendance             Minister Bruton will present awards to the winners of the CPSMA art competition for original art work.  This will be a vibrant event featuring superb art work which will provide a series of colourful photographic opportunities.  Following the award ceremony Minister Bruton will deliver the opening address to the CPSMA annual conference at 2.55pm.

Notes to Editors

  • The Catholic Primary Schools Management Association is a recognised school management association and represents all the boards of management of the over 2,800 Catholic primary schools in the Republic of Ireland.  In addition, the CPSMA provides support and advice to primary school principals and chairpersons of boards of management and its General Secretary is Mr Seamus Mulconry.
  • The theme of the 2017 CPSMA art competition is “Colour, originality and art; our children shine in a palette of talent and delight”.  Please see below for the list of competition winners from each category:

Category 1 – Juniors (Infants to 2nd class)

Isabelle Maher – Senior Infants Saint Brigid’s National School, Ballynacargy, Co Westmeath.

Category 2 – Senior’s (3rd to 6th Class)

Vicky Zimeng Lin – Sixth Class Stanhope Street National School, Manor St, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7.

Category 3

Rebecca Hynes – Fifth Class Saint Patrick’s National School, Kiltormer, Ballinasloe, Co Galway.

As the standard in Category 3 was so high, an additional ‘Award of Excellence’ category has been introduced to the competition:
