Pope Francis makes announcements regarding Galway, Killaloe and Ossory Dioceses

In a series of announcements made in Rome at 12.00pm local time (11.00am Irish time) today, Pope Francis has:

  • Appointed Father Fintan Monahan as Bishop of Killaloe
  • Accepted the resignation on health grounds and on medical advice of Bishop Martin Drennan, Bishop of Galway and Kilmaduagh and Apostolic Administrator of Kilfenora
  • Accepted the resignation on health grounds of Bishop Seamus Freeman SAC, Bishop of Ossory
