Media advisory note for the Requiem Mass of the late Mrs Valerie Greaney RIP

Father Patrick O’Donoghue CC, Cobh, will be the chief celebrant and will preach the homily at the Requiem Mass for Mrs Valerie Greaney RIP which will take place at 11:00am on this Friday 2 January 2015, in Saint Colman’s Cathedral, Cobh, in the Diocese of Cloyne.  Father O’Donoghue’s homily will be made available to media in advance.  Live audio recording of the Mass will be arranged from the sacristan’s office, and this can be accessed from the back of the Cathedral.

In order to respect both the solemnity of the Mass, and the wishes of the family of the deceased, media are advised that photographs cannot be taken, and video recording is not permitted inside the Cathedral, or on its grounds, at any time on Friday.  Also, for the day of the funeral, the Greaney family has specifically requested that media representatives refrain from taking photographs or video recordings of the Greaney children: Sarah and Michelle.

Following the Requiem Mass the remains of Valerie Greaney will be interred in Saint Colman’s cemetery, Cobh.  The family have asked the media to respect its wishes for privacy and not to attend the burial.

At the request of the family the funeral Mass and burial for Mr Michael Greaney RIP are strictly private, and will take place separately.
