Statement of Archbishop Diarmuid Martin on the appointment of Father Kevin Doran as Bishop of Elphin

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has expressed his warmest congratulations, prayers and good wishes  to Father Kevin Doran, Administrator of the Parish of the Sacred Heart, Donnybrook in Dublin, on his appointment as Bishop of Elphin.

Archbishop Martin also expressed his good wishes and thanks to the outgoing Bishop of Elphin,  Most Rev. Christopher Jones for his many years’ service to the Church in Ireland.

The Archbishop paid special tribute to Father Doran’s work as General Secretary of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress and for his great organisational skills in making one of the largest recent events of the Irish Church such a success.

Father Doran has been involved in many aspects of the work of the Archdiocese including the preparation for the introduction of the permanent deaconate in Dublin and in the area of medical ethics.

Archbishop Martin also  praised the work that Father Doran has undertaken since the Eucharistic Congress as Administrator of the large Parish of Donnybrook.
