06 Dec 2011

The Veritas Moving Crib Nativity Window opens on Lower Abbey Street
11am Wednesday 7 December

Veritas, Ireland’s leading religious publisher and retailer, will unveil their annual moving crib at their flagship store on Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1, at 11.00am tomorrow, Wednesday, 7 December, ahead of the popular Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday 8 December.

Capturing the joy and spirit of the Christmas season, the Nativity scene features three-feet-high animated figures of Our Lady, Mary and Joseph, along with the Three Wise Men and shepherds.  Facing out onto the Luas stop at Lower Abbey Street, Veritas’s moving crib is becoming one of the Christmas highlights for children and parents from throughout Ireland– as it provides everyone with a beautiful and enjoyable reminder of the true spirit of Christmas.
To celebrate the launch of the Veritas Moving Crib, Fourth Class Pupils from Saint Bridget’s Primary School, The Coombe, Dublin, will sing Christmas carols outside the shop window on Lower Abbey St from 11.00am.  Organised by the Society of Missionary Children, the choir will entertain the crowds, giving a reminder of what the true meaning of Christmas is and offering a welcome break from the rush of Dublin City.
Announcing the launch, Ms Maura Hyland, Director of Veritas, said, “In these difficult economic times, we in Veritas want to help to convey and share the positive and heart-warming message of Christmas. Our moving crib tells the Nativity story in a way that, we hope, will lift the spirits of everyone and place a sense of gladness and peace in our hearts. Our Veritas windows presents the real story of Christmas and features an animated Crib with the Holy Family at its forefront. One of our authors, John Quinn, also narrates the story of the Nativity, giving a real sense of meaning and occasion to the scene.”
Ms Hyland continued “Whilst this time of year is demanding on families, Veritas is offering a child-friendly cost-free opportunity to experience the message of hope which is central to the Christmas story.  We invite everyone, especially parents and children, to our Veritas store from now until Christmas to take some time to savour the atmosphere and to hear and see the “Real Story of Christmas!”’
